Senior Software Engineer, Platform - Data + AI (Back-End)

Salary: $145,000–$187,000 USD per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Design and develop infrastructure and services for petabyte-scale data pipelines.
• Build abstractions for Cassandra, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage, HDFS, and external data stores.
• Develop distributed-system components for stream processing, queueing, batch processing, analytics, and large-scale ML computation.
• Build high-performance APIs, feature stores, recommendation engines, and other ML-specific data systems.
• Integrate Apache Spark, Ray, Pandas, Koalas, and other distributed computing and data-analysis technologies.
• Collaborate with architects, product managers, and engineers while contributing to technical discussions, testing, scalability, and reliability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of software engineering experience.
• Strong computer science fundamentals, object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns.
• High proficiency in Java, C++, C#, another compiled language, or Python.
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems, a public cloud platform, and version control such as Git.
• Familiarity with Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and modern data science or engineering libraries such as Pandas and Koalas.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in engineering, sciences, or a related field.
• Experience with REST or GraphQL APIs, scalable data pipelines, analytics engines, and multi-source data integration.
• Experience with Spark, Ray, Dask, DAG-based workflows, ML workload orchestration, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Agile development methodology.
