What you will do

• Define and maintain technical direction for backend APIs, services, and checkout experiences, ensuring performance, scalability, and security under high transaction concurrency.
• Drive payments execution with a product-oriented lens, navigating incomplete requirements to deliver robust platform capabilities as usage scales.
• Lead and mentor the engineering team: run code reviews, support technical growth, and uphold high engineering standards.
• Hands-on build and maintain a managed payments platform, including payment processing, billing, and transaction flow services.
• Coordinate cross-team work with product, finance, and customer support to resolve payment issues and improve user experience.
• Oversee integrations with third-party payment providers and gateways (Stripe, Adyen, Braintree) and ensure data security and compliance.

Requirements

• Location: Must be based in Germany
• 10+ years of professional experience, including at least 3 years in a lead or management capacity.
• Mandatory hands-on experience in payments, e-commerce, billing systems, or checkout flows, including handling sensitive financial data.
• Strong backend and API design background; experience with web/full-stack development. Familiarity with Go and TypeScript is expected.
• Solid knowledge of databases (SQL/NoSQL), caching, message queues, and cloud-native environments (AWS/GCP, Docker, Kubernetes).
• “Bar-raiser” leadership mindset with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
