TL;DR
Mainframe DB2 Systems Programmer (DB2 for z/OS): Installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing DB2 subsystems and replication products with an accent on system performance, high availability, data sharing, and disaster recovery. Focus on managing ZPARMs, buffer pools, logs, BSDS, and subsystem configuration, troubleshooting failures and connectivity issues, and supporting large-scale upgrades and modernization.
Location: Hybrid, onsite 3 days per week at core locations in Phoenix, Arizona; Dallas or Houston, Texas; Charlotte, North Carolina; or the New Jersey area. Candidates may relocate to one of these regions.

What you will do
- Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain DB2 for z/OS subsystems.
- Manage ZPARMs, buffer pools, logs, BSDS, catalogs, directories, and subsystem initialization parameters.
- Monitor and tune CPU, memory, I/O, locking, concurrency, threads, and connection performance.
- Support DB2 Data Sharing environments, Sysplex, Coupling Facility integration, workload balancing, failover, and disaster recovery.
- Troubleshoot subsystem failures, dumps, logs, abends, and connectivity issues, then perform root cause analysis.
- Work with JCL, CICS, IMS, MQ, distributed systems, replication products, and enterprise stakeholders.
Requirements
- 7–12+ years of mainframe experience and 3–5+ years in DB2 systems programming or administration.
- Experience with IBM DB2 for z/OS and replication products including Qrep, SQLrep, and CDC.
- Deep knowledge of ZPARMs, subsystem configuration, buffer pools, logs, BSDS, catalog, and directory.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for DB2 system-level, performance, and connectivity issues.
- Proficiency with JCL, TSO/ISPF, and SDSF; SMP/E experience is preferred.
- Ability to work onsite three days per week at one of the listed U.S. core locations.
Nice to have
- Experience with DB2 utilities, performance and monitoring tools such as OMEGAMON and MainView.
- Knowledge of Endevor, ISPW, z/OS Connect, APIs, RACF, TCP/IP, network certificates, Splunk, SQL, and JIRA.
- Experience with large-scale DB2 upgrades, migrations, performance optimization, cloud integration, or hybrid architectures.
- Knowledge of BMC for DB2 Tools, Software AG ADABAS and Natural, REXX, and other mainframe subsystems.
