Staff Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Must be based in Austin, TX, Mountain View, CA, or Warren, MI (Hybrid: 3 days/week in office)

Salary: $160,200–$246,300

What you will do

• Define the technical vision for AI-powered developer productivity tools and workflows.
• Design and deliver scalable AI solutions to automate issue resolution, code analysis, and engineering support.
• Lead architecture decisions for AI systems including model orchestration, evaluation, and observability.
• Integrate AI capabilities into enterprise CI/CD systems and cloud-hosted engineering platforms.
• Establish technical standards for responsible AI use, including security and maintainability guardrails.
• Mentor engineers on AI system design and influence technical roadmaps across organizational boundaries.

Requirements

• Must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, developer tooling, or applied AI.
• Strong proficiency in Python and at least one additional engineering language.
• Demonstrated expertise in applying LLMs to engineering problems like code analysis or workflow automation.
• Experience leading technically ambiguous, cross-functional efforts from concept to production.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or PhD in a technical field.
• Experience with embedded software, automotive toolchains, or safety-related systems.
• Familiarity with GitHub-based engineering workflows and AI coding agents.
• Experience evaluating AI quality using metrics like precision, recall, and hallucination reduction.
