Staff Software Engineer (Go)

Location: Remote or hybrid, with listed locations in Germany, Spain, Portugal, Poland, and Italy; Berlin headquarters

What you will do

• Drive the architectural migration of the core Search Engine from Elixir to Go as the pioneer Go engineer.
• Design foundational infrastructure for high-throughput microservices and interoperability with legacy systems.
• Own the technical backlog and success metrics while coordinating cross-functional work.
• Resolve technical bottlenecks and guide teams in making migration decisions that maximize business value.
• Lead technology adoption and agile engineering processes while maintaining effective documentation.
• Mentor peers and raise the team's technical capabilities through Go best practices.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years with Go.
• Deep architectural experience with high-throughput distributed systems and microservices.
• Experience with Elasticsearch, Kubernetes, and GCP.
• Ability to connect complex technical decisions with business metrics and growth objectives.
• Experience with cross-functional technical leadership, agile development, test-driven development, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Fluent English, both written and verbal, is required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Ruby or Python for working with the legacy ecosystem.
• Experience mentoring engineers and driving continuous technical development.
