Salary: €85,000–€90,000

What you will do

• Define and drive the backend vision, including architecture, design systems, tooling, and standards across teams.
• Lead and support backend engineers through regular 1:1s, coaching, and performance check-ins to drive growth.
• Own people processes such as hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, and compensation cycles.
• Ensure backend delivery is predictable, scalable, and high-quality while resolving systemic issues.
• Collaborate with frontend, data, and platform teams to align constraints and opportunities.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership via selective PR reviews and architectural guidance.

Requirements

• Strong professional experience with the Java stack, specifically SpringBoot and Liquidbase.
• Proven track record of leading backend initiatives across multiple teams and defining architecture at scale.
• Experience mentoring senior engineers and influencing the technical direction of the organization.
• Solid understanding of Java and Postgres performance, database modeling, and risk analysis.
• Must possess a continuous work permit for Spain.
• Must be located in or able to commute to the Barcelona office.
