TL;DR

Electrical Power System Engineer (Aerospace): Designing and optimizing the electrical power system architecture for the Nyx modular reusable space orbital vehicle with an accent on solar arrays, batteries, and power distribution. Focus on conducting worst-case reliability analyses and ensuring compliance with ECSS/NASA standards for flight-qualified components.

Location: Munich, Germany. Relocation assistance and visa sponsorship provided.

hirify.global is developing Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle designed for cargo and potentially human transport.

What you will do

  • Define Electrical Power System architecture and specify solar arrays, batteries, and power conditioning/distribution units.
  • Evaluate and select flight-qualified components and generate detailed technical specifications.
  • Conduct worst-case, reliability, and redundancy analyses in accordance with ECSS/NASA standards.
  • Execute system verification and validation plans and participate in vibration, thermal vacuum, and EMC testing.
  • Coordinate with external suppliers for COTS components and internal teams for in-house designs.
  • Produce detailed design documentation and ensure compliance with certification authorities.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in spacecraft Electrical Power System or avionics system development.
  • Deep understanding of solar arrays, space-qualified batteries, DC/DC converters, MPPT, and PCDU design.
  • Proficiency with Python and Github.
  • Familiarity with ECSS/NASA standards and hardware derating rules.
  • Fluent English proficiency for writing clear technical specifications and reports.

Nice to have

  • Experience with spacecraft platforms.
  • Knowledge of Lithium-Ion Batteries and Battery Management Systems (BMS).
  • Experience with solar array design and testing specifically for space applications.
