TL;DR

Senior Unity Game Engineer (Gamedev): Building and optimizing narrative-centric RPG videogames with an accent on combat AI systems, game architecture, and cross-platform performance. Focus on leading engineering efforts, mentoring team members, and implementing complex gameplay mechanics for PC and console platforms.

Location: Must be based in the USA or Canada and reside within the UTC-4 to UTC-8 timezones.

Salary: $62–$75 USD per hour

What you will do

  • Design and implement core gameplay systems including combat AI, narrative integration, and map interactions.
  • Lead engineering efforts by mentoring junior staff, delegating tasks, and coordinating technical architecture.
  • Prototype new gameplay mechanics and iterate based on design feedback.
  • Maintain and improve DevOps pipelines using Unity Cloud Build and Bitbucket.
  • Optimize game performance and expand titles from PC to console platforms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality UX and maintain technical documentation.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional Unity engineering experience with shipped titles on PC or console.
  • Must be located in the USA or Canada with availability during 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM Pacific time.
  • Deep expertise in C# and object-oriented programming within the .NET platform.
  • Proven experience creating and balancing combat AI systems.
  • Strong understanding of game architecture performance impacts and design patterns.
  • Excellent English communication skills for remote team collaboration.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with Pixel Crushers' Dialogue System or Dark Tonic's Master Audio.
  • Experience with XML processing and design diagramming tools like Visio.
  • Proficiency in creative tools such as Blender, Photoshop, or Figma.
  • Residency in Seattle, Los Angeles, or Edmonton.
