TL;DR
Senior Embedded Software Engineering Lead (C++): Leading the development and delivery of high-reliability flight software for embedded and edge computing platforms with an accent on C/C++, real-time operating systems, and mission-critical systems. Focus on defining software architecture standards, integrating hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop testing, and resolving complex software anomalies for spacecraft programs.

Location: Denver, Colorado, United States. Relocation assistance is available, and up to 10% travel to other hirify.global facilities may be required. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees admitted to the United States.

Base pay for Colorado applicants: $181,626–$254,275.35 per year. Compensation ranges may differ by site.

What you will do

  • Lead flight software engineers through the full software development lifecycle.
  • Architect, design, develop, and deliver high-reliability embedded and edge-computing flight software in C++.
  • Set technical direction, prioritize work, mentor engineers, and enforce architecture and coding standards.
  • Collaborate with systems engineering, GNC, avionics, and mission operations to convert system requirements into software solutions.
  • Lead design and code reviews, integration, HIL and SIL testing, technical risk mitigation, and root-cause analysis.
  • Coordinate with program management on status, risks, resource needs, proposals, and technical documentation for national security programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 7+ years of professional embedded software development experience.
  • Strong C/C++ programming skills for embedded systems and experience with RTOS.
  • Experience with microcontroller peripherals including ADC, DAC, I2C, SPI, and UART.
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and software development for mission-critical systems.
  • Must meet U.S. export control employment eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.
  • Embedded Linux and Yocto experience.
  • Experience leading software technical teams.
  • Knowledge of spacecraft communication protocols.
  • Bare-metal microcontroller programming experience.
