Data, AI & Security Lawyer (Legal): Providing expert legal counsel on data protection, privacy, and AI ethics to support consumer-facing business units. Location: Must be based in Birmingham or London with a requirement to be on-site at least 3 days a week.

What you will do

• Provide accurate legal advice on data, privacy, and AI issues impacting consumer propositions.
• Draft and negotiate complex data-related contracts and clauses for procurement and partnerships.
• Conduct and document data protection impact assessments and risk analyses.
• Monitor emerging digital and AI legislation to ensure ongoing group compliance.
• Deliver training and guidance to first-line reviewers and compliance teams.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Data & Governance, Product, and Regulatory departments.

Requirements

• Qualified lawyer with 2-5+ years of PQE.
• Strong understanding of UK and EU data protection laws (UK/GDPR, PECR).
• Experience drafting and negotiating complex data protection agreements.
• Ability to provide clear, practical legal advice to non-legal stakeholders.
• Professionalism and ability to manage tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Data Protection Qualification (BCS/ISEB or CIPP/E).
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of business value drivers.
