Sr Director NG Software Engineering

Location: Greater Seattle Area, United States. Relocation is provided. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, U.S. permanent residents, refugees, or asylees under export control regulations.

Base pay for Washington applicants: $272,109.00–$380,951.55 per year. Other site ranges may differ.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and grow multidisciplinary teams responsible for embedded flight software, chassis and test software, and ground systems.
• Define and execute the software engineering roadmap against New Glenn milestones, launch schedules, and reusability goals.
• Own the software lifecycle from requirements and architecture through integration, verification, and flight certification.
• Lead architectural decisions for flight computers, sensor interfaces, communications, and safety-critical embedded systems.
• Partner with avionics, systems engineering, test operations, and program management on integration, schedules, risks, and technical status.
• Manage hiring, organizational growth, budgets, resource allocation, and engineering quality metrics.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical field.
• 15+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 5 years managing large engineering teams in senior leadership roles.
• Experience delivering embedded software for safety-critical or flight-critical systems in aerospace, defense, or similarly regulated domains.
• Strong knowledge of RTOS, embedded C/C++, and hardware/software integration.
• Experience leading requirements traceability, unit testing, integration testing, verification and validation, and software qualification.
• Ability to manage cross-functional programs and communicate complex technical topics to executives and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a relevant engineering or computer science discipline.
• Experience with launch vehicle, spacecraft, or missile systems software.
• Familiarity with DO-178C, NASA-STD-8739.8, MBSE, Simulink, or model-based software development.
• Experience with vehicle integration, test operations, and test software architectures.
• Background with a launch vehicle manufacturer, defense prime contractor, or commercial space company.
