TL;DR

Senior Backend Engineer (Python): Building and scaling a marketplace platform with an accent on API design, database performance, and system architecture. Focus on migrating to a subscription-based model, implementing high-volume transaction systems, and modernizing the technology stack.

Location: Must be based in Spain for this fully remote role.

What you will do

  • Collaborate with product managers to conceptualize and implement scalable software solutions.
  • Build and maintain performant APIs, event handlers, and complex business logic.
  • Design and manage robust SQL and NoSQL datastores for high-volume transaction systems.
  • Proactively improve the codebase and contribute to architectural decisions during the platform transformation.
  • Mentor other engineers to support team growth and technical excellence.

Requirements

  • Must be based in Spain.
  • 5+ years of extensive experience with Python in a production environment.
  • Strong experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Proficiency with Docker in production, ideally with Kubernetes or AWS ECS/EKS.
  • Experience building, testing, and documenting features for internal and external use.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly innovative environment.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with the AWS ecosystem.
  • Experience with cloud monitoring tools like Datadog.
  • Experience with ElasticSearch or MongoDB.
  • Interest in leveraging AI to increase developer efficiency.
