TL;DR
Director, Product Risk and Compliance (Legal/Compliance): Leading the global product compliance function focusing on privacy, safety, security, and consumer protection with an accent on building sustainable controls and risk registers. Focus on unifying compliance operating philosophies, driving risk remediation, and ensuring integration of compliance into the product development lifecycle.
Location: Must be based in or be able to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area, New York City, or Washington, DC
Salary: $260,000 – $325,000 base + equity + benefits

What you will do
- Lead teams across privacy, safety, revenue, and security GRC under a unified operating philosophy
- Partner with product and engineering to identify compliance obligations and build sustainable controls
- Own product risk registers, drive risk scoring, and lead remediation efforts
- Establish a control library and compliance maturity framework for prioritized improvement
- Deliver risk and compliance reporting for senior leadership and enterprise risk processes
- Prepare the foundation for SOC 2, ISO 27001, and other certifications
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience in compliance or risk management with leadership experience
- Deep knowledge of privacy (GDPR, CCPA), online safety (DSA, COPPA), or security compliance (SOC 2, ISO 27001)
- Proven track record of owning risk registers and building control libraries
- Experience managing teams of 7+ people across multiple disciplines
- Strong executive communication skills for presenting risk posture to senior leadership
- Ability to operate in fast-moving environments with incomplete information
Nice to have
- Experience at a large-scale consumer-facing technology platform
- Expertise in implementing GRC tooling and automating compliance processes
- Familiarity with AI governance frameworks (EU AI Act, ISO 42001) and payments compliance
- JD or legal background
- Experience in gaming, social platforms, or communications technology
