TL;DR

Controls Technician II: Performs repairs, maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting for plant facilities and equipment with an accent on electrical instrumentation, motor controls, and PLC/VFD programming. Focus on ensuring safe, code-compliant operation through testing, schematics-based work, SAP maintenance documentation, and high PM completion performance.

Location: Richland, WA, USA (Plant)

Salary: $42.47/hour

What you will do

  • Repair and maintain plant facilities, machinery, and equipment to prevent breakdowns.
  • Conduct routine, periodic, and special inspections to determine required maintenance work.
  • Test, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and control systems using test meters and tools.
  • Write and manage maintenance work in SAP, including work orders, comments, notifications, and spare parts/BOM lookup.
  • Maintain safety compliance including LOTO validations, safety trainings, and required certifications.
  • Support shift coverage and be available for overtime/off-shift work when needed.

Requirements

  • Understanding of instrumentation and equipment, including motor controls.
  • Ability to test electrical systems and continuity of circuits using ohmmeters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and meggers.
  • Formal training or experience in mechanics, electricity, and electrical schematics; ability to read schematics and wiring panels.
  • Proficiency troubleshooting and programming PLCs without supervision.
  • Competence installing and maintaining VFDs; knowledge of NEC codes.
  • Ability to work on shift with minimal supervision and maintain strong safety/attendance record.
