TL;DR
Senior Software Engineer (Java) (iGaming): Building and operating Java-based web services and microservice products for a global online gaming platform with an accent on AWS, RESTful applications, database systems, and software lifecycle delivery. Focus on designing reliable cloud and on-premises services, refactoring for performance and operability, and leading technical discussions and coaching engineers.
Location: Hybrid position based in Marousi/Athens, Greece or Sofia, Bulgaria

What you will do
- Participate in all stages of the software development life cycle, from requirements analysis through testing and delivery.
- Design, build, and operate Java-based web services, microservices, and products hosted on-premises and in the cloud.
- Write clean, efficient Java code and develop RESTful applications using Spring Boot or related frameworks.
- Review and refactor existing code to improve reliability, robustness, performance, and operability.
- Collaborate with software engineers, test engineers, architects, DevOps engineers, and business teams in a Scrumban environment.
- Lead engineers on large product initiatives, provide technical guidance, and coach less experienced developers.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of commercial Java development experience.
- Demonstrable knowledge of Java and experience developing RESTful applications with Spring Boot or related frameworks.
- Experience with AWS, cloud-native applications, and microservice architectures.
- Experience with relational databases and non-relational databases, including SQL, DDL, and ACID concepts.
- Comfort working in Unix/Linux environments, with strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with Redis or Hazelcast caching strategies.
- Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or other messaging technologies.
- Familiarity with continuous integration and deployment tools such as Jenkins and Docker.
- Experience leading a small development team or acting as a primary technical decision-maker.
- Experience with Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban; frontend experience with HTML, JavaScript, or React.
