TL;DR
Staff Software Engineer (Java) (Cloud-Native Backend): Designing and building highly scalable, resilient backend services for Conga’s cloud-native revenue operations platform with an accent on distributed systems, microservices, event-driven architecture, and high-throughput data processing. Focus on shaping platform architecture, optimizing Java services with Cassandra and Redis, solving complex scalability challenges, and mentoring backend engineers.

What you will do
- Design and develop scalable, resilient Java backend services for a cloud-native, microservices-based platform.
- Build reusable distributed-system capabilities supporting real-time pricing and revenue operations.
- Contribute to backend architecture, service design, data-handling patterns, and engineering standards.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, architects, QA, and DevOps/Cloud Services on functionality, testing, deployments, and production reliability.
- Participate in code reviews, pair programming, technical research, documentation, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge sharing across the engineering organization.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience developing large-scale, complex applications with Java.
- Strong backend expertise in multithreading, messaging, streaming, performance optimization, horizontal scalability, and REST APIs.
- Experience with Cassandra, Redis, SQL and NoSQL databases, distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven design.
- Experience with cloud platforms, especially Microsoft Azure, plus Docker and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of OOP, design patterns, SOLID principles, clean architecture, algorithmic complexity, and Java data structures.
- Experience with BDD/TDD, CI/CD tools, Git, Jira, Confluence, and Agile methodologies.
Nice to have
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT.
- Experience with Java 21, Dropwizard, OpenSearch or Elasticsearch.
- Familiarity with Azure Service Bus, Redis Streams, AKS, Helm, or similar deployment and messaging tools.
- University degree in Computer Science or a related field.
