Technical Project Manager (Retail)

TL;DR

Technical Project Manager (Retail/IT Infrastructure): Managing the planning and execution of core IT infrastructure, network architecture, and retail technology deployments with an accent on modernizing core systems and vendor management. Focus on designing technical deliverables, solving complex deployment challenges across multi-site retail footprints, and ensuring high-quality system integration.

Location: Hybrid (3 days work from office) in Sydney or Melbourne, Australia

What you will do

• Lead and execute technical projects focusing on critical IT infrastructure, hardware refreshes, and cloud/telephony solutions.
• Act as the primary liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders to align technical deliverables with business needs.
• Oversee project-related vendor relationships, including drafting, negotiating, and managing contracts with MSPs.
• Coordinate and oversee quality management activities, including SIT and UAT.
• Translate business requirements into precise technical specifications and actionable project tasks.
• Manage project budgets, including creating forecasts and tracking expenditure.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience in technical project management for large-scale IT projects.
• Experience with core IT infrastructure and networks, including WAN/LAN, Wi-Fi, virtualisation, cloud services (Azure, GCP), and data center technologies.
• Proven expertise in contract management and negotiation with technology vendors.
• Significant experience working within the retail or hospitality sector.
• Must be based in or able to work hybridly in Sydney or Melbourne.

Nice to have

• PMP, PRINCE2, or other relevant project management certifications.
• Familiarity with Google Suite, ServiceNow, and Planview.
