Director of Accounting (Web3)

Location: On-site at the New York, NY office, United States.

Salary: $180,000–$225,000 per year.

What you will do

• Build and lead the Accounting department while working independently and managing the team.
• Lead the monthly close process and prepare and analyze income statements, balance sheets, and statements of cash flow.
• Improve and automate accounting processes, optimize accounting systems and tools, and implement accounting best practices.
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP and stay current with FASB and SEC guidance, particularly for digital asset policies.
• Develop and enforce financial controls and policies; oversee payroll, accounts payable, expense reimbursements, and accounts receivable.
• Own digital asset reporting and reconciliations, support management decision-making, coordinate tax filings with tax partners, and build and mentor the Accounting team.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience, including prior experience at a top-tier public accounting firm.
• 2+ years of recent experience at a crypto company or in a crypto-native environment.
• Experience or familiarity with digital asset accounting.
• Experience leading a financial audit in partnership with external auditors.
• CPA license.
• Experience with multi-entity operations.
• Strong proficiency in accounting software, financial planning tools, and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to build an accounting department strategically, roll out new processes, work in a fast-paced startup environment, and execute multiple projects.
