TL;DR

Senior Electrical Test Systems Engineer (Aerospace): Designing, building, and maintaining Special Test Equipment (STE), Ground Support Equipment (GSE), and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) infrastructure for advanced sensor and avionics systems with an accent on electrical architecture, automated test rack integration, and complex instrumentation. Focus on developing robust test solutions for R&D and production environments, ensuring system reliability for defense and aerospace applications.

Location: Must be based in El Segundo, CA (On-site)

Salary: $130,000–$210,000

What you will do

  • Design, develop, and sustain automated STE/GSE systems for sensor and avionics hardware.
  • Architect test racks, interface test adapters (ITAs), and subsystem interconnects.
  • Integrate and troubleshoot commercial test equipment including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators.
  • Define electrical architectures covering power distribution, grounding, and signal conditioning.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software, RF, and mechanical engineering to develop automated test solutions.
  • Perform root cause corrective action (RCCA) and support system-level integration and validation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience designing electrical test systems or automated test equipment.
  • Experience with STE, GSE, ATE, or HIL systems for aerospace, defense, or embedded hardware.
  • Hands-on experience with interface test adapters (ITAs), cable design, and subsystem integration.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
  • Strong hands-on laboratory and hardware integration experience.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with RF/radar or EO/IR sensor integration.
  • Familiarity with Python-based test automation and instrumentation control.
  • Experience with ECAD tools such as Altium Designer or Mentor Graphics.
  • Familiarity with military or aerospace standards and environmental test practices.
