What you will do

• Define and implement the overarching validation strategy and test plans for spacecraft avionics including flight computers and power systems.
• Design and build automated test racks and custom fixtures for PCBA modules.
• Partner with hardware design engineers to integrate Design for Test (DFT) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) requirements early in the lifecycle.
• Develop and maintain Python-based test scripts within the existing software framework.
• Establish engineering best practices and lead technical design reviews for test infrastructure.
• Mentor junior engineers and define the standards for the electrical test team.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. person or eligible for export authorization (ITAR/EAR compliance).
• Must be able to work onsite in San Jose, CA five days per week.
• 3+ years of experience in hardware test engineering.
• Strong knowledge of electronic components, circuits, and test equipment like oscilloscopes and power supplies.
• Proficiency in Python scripting and Linux development environments.
• Familiarity with schematic capture and PCB layout software such as Altium or Cadence.

Nice to have

• Experience with space applications and aerospace quality standards like SMC-S-016.
• Knowledge of RF test equipment including spectrum analyzers and VNAs.
• Experience with FPGAs, SoC, or embedded Linux platforms.
• Familiarity with high-speed digital interfaces like PCIE or 25G Ethernet.
• Previous startup experience.
