Contracting Strategist (Legal)

Location: Must be based in Washington, D.C., New York City, or Pittsburgh (On-site)

Salary: $160,000 – $220,000

What you will do

• Develop frameworks for crafting and negotiating proposals in accordance with regulatory requirements and business objectives.
• Draft and negotiate prime contracts, subcontracts, teaming agreements, and NDAs while balancing risk and pricing.
• Partner with Business Development and Capture teams to optimize proposal structure, pricing, and value propositions.
• Provide ongoing support throughout the acquisition and execution lifecycle to mitigate risks and ensure performance obligations.
• Conduct market analysis to support strategic pricing decisions and enhance competitive positioning.
• Develop training programs to ensure internal teams adhere to contracting and pricing strategies.

Requirements

• Minimum 7 years of experience in government contracting.
• Strong working knowledge of FAR and DFARS, including clause-level risk identification.
• Experience reviewing solicitations, RFPs/RFQs/RFIs, and complex contract structures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for translating requirements to non-legal stakeholders.
• High attention to detail and strong ownership of deadlines and deliverables.
• Must be able to work on-site in Washington, D.C., New York City, or Pittsburgh.

Nice to have

• Experience with DoD and federal agency contracting (IDIQs, BPAs, OTAs, SBIR/STTR).
• Expertise in dual-use, defense, robotics, or SaaS contracting.
• Experience building scalable contracting templates, playbooks, and workflows.
• Ability to advise on data rights, IP, cybersecurity, and customer-specific compliance.
