Salary: $165,000 – $190,000 USD

What you will do

• Define and execute the end-to-end architectural evolution of the Claims Pay platform.
• Lead the migration from a legacy SugarCRM monolith to a modern, event-driven microservices architecture.
• Establish architectural standards, design patterns, and document decisions through ADRs.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and DevOps teams to align technical strategy with business goals.
• Mentor engineers and technical leads through design reviews and hands-on guidance.
• Identify and mitigate systemic risks related to scalability, performance, and reliability.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States.
• 8–12+ years of experience in software engineering or architecture.
• Proven success decomposing monolithic systems into microservices or distributed architectures.
• Experience with SugarCRM or similar legacy/CRM platforms and modernization strategies.
• Strong expertise in event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ) and API design (REST, GraphQL, gRPC).
• Domain experience in payments, insurance claims, or financial services.

Nice to have

• Experience leading large-scale modernization initiatives across multiple teams.
• Familiarity with insurance carrier integrations.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization.
• Background in architecture governance and review boards.
