What you will do
- Lead AMR and related material automation deployments from planning through launch and stabilization, including scope definition, supplier coordination, equipment build, run-off, installation, buyoff, readiness reviews, and post-launch support
- Act as the primary interface with strategic suppliers to ensure adherence to GM standards, deliverables, and launch milestones
- Own program timing, risks, and open issues, providing clear updates to plant and executive leadership
- Partner across manufacturing, industrial engineering, controls, logistics, purchasing, and plant operations to deliver safe, efficient, scalable material flow automation
- Troubleshoot deployment and integration issues, drive corrective actions, and support continuous improvement
- Support documentation and provide technical direction to less experienced engineers and project team members
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field
- 5+ years of experience in automotive manufacturing, industrial automation, material flow, robotics deployment, or a related engineering role
- Experience leading implementation or launch of automation systems in a manufacturing/plant environment
- Experience working directly with suppliers, integrators, or OEM partners to deliver technical projects on schedule
- Working knowledge of AMRs and/or automated material handling technologies (AFTs, ASRS, kitting/sequencing systems)
- Ability to work onsite in a plant environment five days per week
