Direct Commodity Buyer (Automotive): Managing powertrain component sourcing strategies during the transition from internal combustion engines to EV/AV with an accent on cost reduction, supplier performance, and commercial negotiations. Focus on driving annual part cost reductions, managing cross-functional design targets, and ensuring supply base capacity for production volumes.

Location: Must be based in or able to commute to Dunton, Essex (4 days per week in office)

Salary: Up to £27.38 per hour (Inside IR35)

What you will do

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for powertrain components to support the transition to BEV.
• Perform market benchmarking and manage sourcing processes in line with program timing and cost targets.
• Monitor supplier quality performance and drive non-design and design annual part cost reductions.
• Lead cost recovery actions and manage commercial opportunities using optimal cost estimates.
• Negotiate raw material pricing and support distressed supplier management.
• Ensure suppliers maintain sufficient installed capacity to meet client production volumes.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a purchasing setting, preferably within the automotive industry.
• Strong business and commercial acumen with excellent negotiation skills.
• Demonstrable understanding of automotive industry challenges and purchasing roles.
• Excellent numerical, analytical, and data management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and strong presentation abilities.
• Degree qualification or equivalent professional experience.
