Data Engineering Manager (Fintech)

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of data engineers while setting clear expectations for delivery quality.
• Own end-to-end engineering delivery for the data product roadmap, ensuring pipelines are tested, observable, and documented.
• Manage production operations, including monitoring, incident response, and root-cause analysis.
• Define and enforce engineering standards such as coding conventions, CI/CD, and testing strategies.
• Partner with Data Product Managers and Principal Data Modellers to align on priorities and standards.
• Ensure all engineering outputs meet strict regulatory, security, and governance requirements.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in data or software engineering, with at least 2–3 years in people management.
• Proven track record of delivering and operating production data platforms at scale.
• Hands-on experience with modern cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift).
• Strong operational mindset with experience in orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Dagster) and CI/CD.
• Experience working in a regulated environment (financial services, insurance, or banking).
• Must have the right to work in the UK (no sponsorship provided).

Nice to have

• Experience with transformation frameworks like dbt.
• Familiarity with streaming or event-driven architectures.
• Experience managing platform costs and optimizing spend at scale.
• Exposure to AI/ML feature pipelines or model serving infrastructure.
