Field Technician (Renewables)

TL;DR

Field Technician (Renewables): Support Operations and Maintenance for a distributed fleet of residential solar systems by diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining solar and storage electrical components with an accent on safety compliance, quality assurance inspections, and accurate service reporting. Focus on responding to performance and warranty issues, collaborating with manufacturers and engineering, and delivering professional customer and dealer training.

Location: Location varies depending on job site; driving required with valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report. Estimated 25% travel with 1–2 overnight trips per month.

What you will do

• Evaluate solar and storage systems using electrical testing equipment; diagnose and repair electrical components for maintenance, warranty repairs, and other needs.
• Complete quality assurance inspections, document corrective actions, and ensure corrective items are finished within defined timelines.
• Submit service reports immediately after work order completion.
• Identify solutions for technical design problems in electrical systems used during construction; collaborate with manufacturers and the engineering team.
• Develop and use knowledge of roof types, flashings, and mounts; manage vehicle material stock and equipment inventory.
• Provide training to service staff and customers on system operation, service process, performance, and maintenance; maintain professional relationships with dealers and service partners.

Requirements

• High School Diploma (or GED).
• 1+ years’ electrical experience.
• Proficient English in speaking, reading, and writing.
• Working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC).
• Current, valid driver’s license with acceptable Motor Vehicle Report.

Nice to have

• OSHA 30 certification.
• Formal apprenticeship and/or vocational training experience.
• 1+ years’ experience in the solar electric industry (or 3+ years’ electrical experience).
• Bilingual English and Spanish.
