Solar Technician II

Location: Onsite at the Calhoun County Solar site in Albion, Michigan; daily commuting to the site is required. Occasional travel to the Platteview project in Yutan, Nebraska may be required.

What you will do

• Perform assigned operations and maintenance activities at utility-scale solar PV sites and substations.
• Complete corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance on SunGrow inverters, Nextracker XTR equipment, and high-, medium-, and low-voltage systems.
• Prepare and implement switching and clearance orders.
• Perform technical and administrative duties required to operate and maintain power facilities.
• Work independently and as part of field crews while supporting and training other field personnel.
• Ensure all work complies with environmental and safety requirements.

Requirements

• Three or more years of experience as a PV O&M solar technician, or five or more years of power plant experience including at least one year in PV solar O&M or construction.
• Knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals, including electrical measurements, control circuits, and solid-state theory.
• Basic knowledge of power-facility equipment and associated control devices.
• Experience with electrical or construction projects, highly technical equipment, engineering, and basic IT equipment.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English; operate standard business software; and communicate effectively with colleagues and leaders.
• Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations and ability to work around energized equipment, hazardous materials, heights, and changing weather conditions.
