What you will do
- Conduct on-site product evaluations, including documentation reviews, visual/mechanical inspections, and electrical testing.
- Determine project scope and specifications by analyzing client input and product construction.
- Communicate with clients and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) to resolve complex technical issues and explain UL procedures.
- Represent the organization at industry meetings and deliver presentations on code and certification topics.
- Develop specialized test methods and equipment for products that fall outside existing standards.
- Analyze and report on the acceptability of field-based product evaluations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Physics from an ABET accredited program.
- Eight years of directly related experience in field evaluations or safety engineering.
- Expert knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), Building Codes, and regulatory conformity standards.
- Proficiency with electrical test equipment and conducting electrical tests on products.
- Experience with Hazard Based Safety Engineering (HBSE) concepts.
- Ability to travel frequently for on-site evaluations, including occasional international travel.
