TL;DR

Project Officer - Community Engagement and Social Behavior Change (CE&SBC): Lead implementation, oversight, and quality assurance of community-based RMNCAH interventions delivered through sub-granted civil society organizations with an accent on SBC platforms, CHW programming, male engagement, and social accountability. Focus on strengthening community systems, ensuring milestone and performance indicator achievement, and using monitoring data to improve service uptake and health outcomes.

What you will do

  • Oversee sub-granted CSO implementation: review and refine workplans, track milestones/deliverables, validate CSO reports, and conduct routine field verification.
  • Provide technical guidance and capacity strengthening to CSOs for community engagement and SBC delivery across supported councils.
  • Ensure effective delivery of key platforms (health market, community scorecards, men’s corners, gender dialogues, advocacy meetings, and radio/media engagement) and integration of RMNCAH, family planning, obstetric fistula, and MHPSS messaging.
  • Strengthen community systems and referral pathways by supporting CHW and Male Champion training, supervision, and supportive supervision visits.
  • Manage monitoring, evaluation, and accountability: track community-level indicators, run routine performance monitoring systems, participate in data review meetings, and produce high-quality reporting.
  • Contribute to proposal/concept note development and support safeguarding, confidentiality, and organizational policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Community Development, Gender Studies, Sociology, or a related field; Master’s degree in Public Health or Social Sciences is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in Social and Behavior Change (SBC), community engagement, health promotion, or related programming.
  • Proven experience in RMNCAH, family planning, gender, MHPSS, and/or obstetric fistula programming, including work with CSOs and community-based implementation models.
  • Experience in sub-grant management, milestone tracking, and performance monitoring under standard grant mechanisms.
  • Strong community-level programming experience working with CHWs and government health systems; ability to manage multiple interventions simultaneously.
  • English and Swahili: strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Swahili. Willingness to travel frequently to project sites in Mwanza Region.
