Junior Data Scientist (Agriculture)

TL;DR

Junior Data Scientist (Python/R/SQL): Analyzing and interpreting commercial supply chain data to improve animal supply chain sustainability with an accent on data wrangling, EDA, and predictive modeling. Focus on building decision-support dashboards and developing ML algorithms to translate complex agri-food datasets into actionable insights.

What you will do

• Clean and integrate structured and unstructured supply chain data from IoT sensors, ERP systems, and custom applications.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in agriculture and aquaculture data.
• Develop and validate predictive models and machine learning algorithms to support supply chain direction.
• Create clear visualizations and decision-support dashboards to communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate with consultancy and industry experts to define and solve complex data problems.
• Document methodologies, code, and results to ensure reproducibility and shared understanding.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or another quantitative subject.
• Proficiency in Python and/or R, with experience in data wrangling and modelling.
• Solid understanding of SQL and working with relational databases.
• Understanding of core machine learning concepts such as regression, classification, and clustering.
• Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn, Tableau, Power BI).
• Must be based in the United Kingdom.

Nice to have

• Experience deploying and monitoring analytics models in real-world environments.
• Knowledge of MLOps practices or model deployment.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Interest in farming, animal health, welfare, or sustainability.
• Proficiency with version control using Git.
