Bid and Project Manager (Defence)

Ultra I&C's Cyber business develops cryptographic and key management solutions for secure information exchange in defence and other high-security environments.

What you will do

• Lead multidisciplinary engineering projects from concept development through delivery and close-out.
• Manage the full bid lifecycle, including opportunity assessment, tender review, planning, governance, submission, and contract award.
• Develop and control project plans, schedules, budgets, submission strategies, and bid documentation.
• Coordinate engineering, quality assurance, procurement, sales, commercial teams, external partners, and other stakeholders.
• Manage risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, reporting, escalation, and mitigation activities.
• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, regulatory requirements, security standards, quality frameworks, and technical governance.

Requirements

• Proven project management experience in an engineering or technology environment.
• Understanding of engineering principles and lifecycle models.
• Experience with structured methodologies including Waterfall, Scrum, and Agile.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, leadership, and team coordination skills.
• Experience managing customer relationships, preferably in the defence sector.
• Proficiency with project management tools such as MS Project and Jira.
• Must be willing and able to obtain and maintain DV security clearance; British citizenship and UK residence history may be required for clearance eligibility.

Nice to have

• Project management certification such as APM PMQ, PRINCE2, or AgilePM.
• Experience in defence, aerospace, or other highly regulated industries.
• Experience integrating software, firmware, and hardware.
• Experience managing physical production or product through-life support.
