Senior Payroll Officer

What you will do

• Run weekly and monthly payrolls, ensuring accuracy at point of payment.
• Process starters, leavers, variations, and wage changes; maintain employee records in time & attendance systems or Excel.
• Manage the payroll inbox and ensure correct filing of payroll documents.
• Handle BACS processing, reconciliations, and period-end payroll tasks.
• Update tax codes, deductions, and student loans from HMRC; ensure RTI submissions and P32s are completed accurately and on time.
• Administer pensions across multiple schemes and process AOE payments, CSA schedules, and childcare vouchers; produce P45s and resolve payroll queries.

Requirements

• Several years of experience in payroll processing.
• Strong understanding of payroll legislation, compliance, and statutory payments.
• Confident working with payroll systems and advanced Excel.
• High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to handle sensitive information.
• Comfortable working independently and within a busy team.
