Senior Engineering Manager (AI Gateway)

What you will do

• Lead a small, high-velocity team building the AI Gateway layer in a deeply hands-on capacity.
• Set the technical and product direction for AI Gateway alongside engineers and PMs.
• Build the toolchain and context that allow agents to help build, operate, and monitor the gateway.
• Obsess over developer experience, refining error messages, SDK choices, and dashboard flows.
• Recruit, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of senior engineers.
• Partner with Workers AI and Developer Platform teams to deliver a unified inference layer.

Requirements

• Minimum 8 years of industry experience, including at least 4 years managing software engineering teams.
• Proven track record leading teams that shipped large-scale systems in AI infra, cloud, or edge/proxy systems.
• Significant technical depth to guide architectural discussions and review designs.
• Strong taste in developer tools, including APIs, SDKs, dashboards, and CLIs.
• Authorization to receive technology controlled under U.S. export laws without sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience building AI/ML infrastructure, inference platforms, or LLM-powered applications.
• Hands-on experience with proxy, edge, or gateway systems.
• Experience building customized agentic development environments.
• A track record of writing publicly about developer tools or systems.
