What you will do

• Lead system design and architectural decisions for high-scale distributed systems.
• Own technical strategy within the team and influence cross-team engineering standards.
• Mentor senior engineers and shape the technical culture.
• Drive modernization, performance optimization, and resilience improvements.
• Partner with Product, Data, and Risk teams to deliver business-critical initiatives.
• Ensure high reliability, observability, and maintainability across complex systems.

Requirements

• Location: Must be based in Stockholm, Sweden (On-site)
• Principal or senior technical leadership experience.
• Deep backend engineering and AWS expertise.
• Strong system design skills across distributed systems.
• Experience operating in high-growth fintech or large-scale tech environments.
• Strong proficiency in one of the following: Java, Python, or Node.js/TypeScript.

Nice to have

• Experience building and scaling high-throughput payment or financial systems.
• Background in banking infrastructure, ledgering, or reconciliation engines.
• Experience leading dunning, collections, credit, or risk platforms.
• Expertise in designing APIs and event-driven architectures in distributed environments.
