What you will do

• Design and maintain scalable data models, semantic layers, and visualizations for business-critical reporting.
• Partner with Product, Finance, Marketing, and Operations to translate complex business questions into reliable data solutions.
• Build and maintain dbt models to ensure consistent and reusable data definitions.
• Integrate AI-assisted tools (Claude, Cursor, etc.) into workflows to accelerate development and documentation.
• Improve data quality, governance, and documentation for BI assets to enable self-serve analytics.
• Identify business opportunities and resolve performance bottlenecks in queries and pipelines.

Requirements

• Proven experience delivering production-grade solutions in high-scale data environments.
• Deep proficiency in SQL and data modeling.
• Experience with a modern data stack such as Snowflake, Databricks, dbt, Sigma, or Looker.
• Demonstrated active integration of AI tools (Claude, Codex, Copilot, Cursor) into daily engineering workflows.
• Strong ability to work directly with stakeholders to scope ambiguous data requirements.
• Must be based in or able to work hybrid in New York City or San Francisco.

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech, payments, lending, or regulated financial environments.
• Familiarity with data orchestration tools like Airflow.
• Exposure to Python for data transformation or automation.
• Experience scaling BI infrastructure in high-growth startup environments.
