Design Release Engineer (Air Induction and Exhaust Systems)

TL;DR

Design Release Engineer (Air Induction and Exhaust Systems): Leading the development, integration, and production launch of advanced air induction and exhaust systems for next-generation vehicles with an accent on technical specifications and supplier management. Focus on driving design validation through FEA and modal analysis, ensuring robust manufacturability, and managing the full vehicle development process.

Location: Hybrid (Warren, Michigan). Expectation to report to the office at least 3 times a week.

What you will do

• Lead the Product Development Team (PDT) for air induction and exhaust systems.
• Manage the design, release, and integration of systems into vehicles with precision and timeliness.
• Drive Design Validation using analytical tools such as FEA, modal analysis, and virtual builds.
• Define and develop technical specifications including CTS, SSTS, SOR, and ICD documents.
• Conduct trade-off studies regarding cost, mass, and timing to recommend program direction.
• Coordinate cross-functional activities with purchasing, manufacturing, and supplier quality teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• 2+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Strong grasp of engineering theory, design principles, and system integration.
• Familiarity with CAD and CAE tools, as well as Specification and Release systems.
• No immigration-related sponsorship provided; must have existing legal authorization to work in the US.
• Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis.

Nice to have

• Prior experience in air induction and/or exhaust systems design, release, or analysis.
• DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) Certification.
