Advisor - Indigenous and Community Relations (Renewable Energy): Supporting the development of strategic, long-term relationships with Indigenous partners and local communities to support renewable energy assets with an accent on engagement, consultation processes, and risk mitigation. Focus on building trust-based relationships, navigating complex conversations, and ensuring compliance with legal obligations and UNDRIP.
Location: Must be based in British Columbia, Canada (Kelowna, Okanagan, or Vancouver). Requires 50% to 75% travel within the South-Central interior and Okanagan regions.
Salary: $77,000–$95,000 per year

What you will do
- Build and maintain relationships with Indigenous partners, municipal governments, and local stakeholders in assigned regions.
- Act as the primary point of contact, providing "one-window access" to for Indigenous partners and local communities.
- Advise project teams on strategies to manage and mitigate relationship risks and ensure compliance with contractual and legal obligations.
- Plan and coordinate engagement and consultation processes throughout the full lifecycle of renewable energy assets.
- Monitor and report on emerging issues, policies, and regional developments impacting Indigenous partners.
- Represent the company at industry, community, and Indigenous events.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in political science, Indigenous history, public relations, communications, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in the electricity/energy sector working with Indigenous organizations.
- Valid BC driver’s license in good standing.
- Deep understanding of UNDRIP, Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action, and relevant federal/provincial legislation.
- Strong ability to resolve conflicts and navigate complex conversations while preserving relationships.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
