Backend Engineer III (Cybersecurity)

TL;DR

Backend Engineer III (Go/Distributed Systems): Building and scaling foundational services for a next-generation detection platform with an accent on high-performance data orchestration and real-time event processing. Focus on architecting fault-tolerant microservices, optimizing internet-scale data streams, and implementing detections as code via advanced CI/CD tooling.

Location: Hybrid (New York City). Candidate must be comfortable visiting the office twice a week.

Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead the design and implementation of core platform services that ingest, process, and route security events.
• Drive the architecture for the Detection Content Management Platform (DCMP) to enable detections as code.
• Develop highly scalable and fault-tolerant microservices using Go, Kubernetes, and Flink.
• Contribute to the evolution of the Unified Detections Management (UDM) system.
• Serve as a technical leader and mentor mid-level and senior engineers.
• Architect features for cross-cutting concerns including Policy, Flight Control, and Observability.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience with a focus on large-scale distributed systems.
• Deep expertise in Go (preferred) or other modern programming languages.
• Proven track record of delivering highly available platform services in a cloud environment (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Extensive experience with data streaming technologies such as Kafka and Flink.
• Must be based in or able to work from New York City (Hybrid - 2 days/week in office).

Nice to have

• Strong understanding of cybersecurity or SIEM principles and rule authoring lifecycles.
• Experience with query languages and runtime environments.
• Familiarity with low-latency, real-time event processing and pattern matching.
• Prior work in a security domain or building platforms for developers.
