Director of Applied AI & Data Science (AI/ML): Designing and operationalizing production-grade AI solutions across insurance and investments with an accent on scalable AI systems and generative AI (LLM). Location: Hybrid in New Haven, CT, US. Authorization to work in the United States is required; no visa sponsorship available.
Salary: $140,000 – $238,000

What you will do
- Develop and deploy ML and AI models for insurance, actuarial, and investment decision-making.
- Design LLM-enabled analytics and Deep Research solutions using RAG approaches.
- Perform data analysis and feature engineering using Snowflake, PostgreSQL, and DB2.
- Establish model success metrics, validation, and explainability standards.
- Collaborate with data engineers to manage the model lifecycle and monitor drift.
- Implement responsible AI practices, including bias assessment and audit documentation.
Requirements
- Authorization to work in the USA is required (no visa sponsorship).
- 8+ years of experience in software, data, or ML engineering.
- 3+ years of experience delivering production AI/ML or GenAI solutions (RAG, agents).
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and production system development.
- Experience with Snowflake, relational databases (PostgreSQL), and API development.
- Knowledge of CI/CD and operational lifecycle management for AI systems.
Nice to have
- Experience in financial services or other regulated industries.
- Experience with DB2 or legacy-to-cloud data migration.
