TL;DR

Senior Software Engineer (Backend): Building and scaling high-impact features for a global employee recognition platform with an accent on microservices architecture, system design, and backend performance. Location: Must be based in or able to commute to the Liberty Village office in Toronto, Canada (Hybrid: 2 days/week in-office)

Salary: $117,000–$167,000

What you will do

  • Own major product features end-to-end from design to deployment.
  • Lead system design and architecture discussions to solve complex engineering challenges.
  • Drive technical excellence through code reviews and championing best practices.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product and Design teams to align on requirements.
  • Mentor and guide engineers of varying experience levels to foster a culture of growth.
  • Lead engineering improvements through better tooling and smarter processes.

Requirements

  • 5-7+ years of professional experience with at least 2 years in leading backend or full-stack projects.
  • Hands-on experience in system design and leading complex, multi-component projects to delivery.
  • Strong understanding of microservices architecture, distributed systems, and performance trade-offs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Must be able to work in a hybrid model in Toronto, Canada.
