What you will do

• Handle and process patient samples, analyze test results, prepare reports, and maintain test result records.
• Accession samples into the laboratory information management system (LIMS) to support sample throughput (if required).
• Execute and document quality control activities, including instrument/procedural calibrations and maintenance.
• Identify and correct or escalate issues affecting test performance or results; document corrective actions when systems deviate from specifications.
• Support molecular testing workflows and investigate proficiency testing, quality control results, and patient testing that do not meet standards.
• Train new employees on lab policies, methods, and techniques; participate in drafting/maintaining standard operating procedures.

Requirements

• California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license
• BS/BA in a biology-related science
• 1–6 years of experience performing high-complexity testing in a clinical laboratory
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and demonstrated analytical skills working with databases and Excel
• Demonstrated proficiency in molecular testing techniques (PCR, real-time PCR) is highly desirable
• Ability to comply with local, state, and federal laws and regulations governing clinical laboratory operations
