What you will do

• Lead the design and iteration of mechanical subsystems, including structures, mechanisms, and actuators.
• Create and maintain detailed CAD models, assemblies, and drawings with appropriate GD&T.
• Build and test prototypes to debug issues related to fit, alignment, friction, and wear.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical components with sensors and control systems.
• Support the transition of designs from prototyping to high-volume production using DFM and DFA.
• Analyze test results and field data to drive iterative design improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, robotics, or electromechanical systems.
• Proficiency with CAD tools such as NX, SolidWorks, or similar.
• Strong fundamentals in tolerance, alignment, load paths, wear, and failure modes.
• Experience with high-volume GD&T and engineering drawing practices.
• Must be based in San Francisco, CA.

Nice to have

• Experience scaling physical products from prototyping through high-volume production.
• Experience working on multidisciplinary projects involving hardware and software integration.
