What you will do

• Develop performance signals for the Waymo driver using statistics, math, physics, algorithms, and ML.
• Mine real-world driving logs and utilize simulation to measure driving performance.
• Design and implement methods to link onboard software changes to simulated outcomes.
• Analyze data to improve the quality and interpretability of performance metrics.
• Champion code health and best practices within a large and complex codebase.
• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and leadership to deliver evaluation products.

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science, Robotics, Statistics, Physics, Math, or another quantitative area.
• 4-7 years of industry experience.
• Proficiency in navigating and modifying large codebases using C++, Python, and SQL.
• Strong experience in performing statistical analyses and building data processing pipelines.
• Must be based in one of the following US locations: Mountain View, San Francisco, or New York City.

Nice to have

• Experience with Machine Learning (ML) and A/B experiment infrastructure.
• Expertise in building and validating metrics for complex systems.
• Experience working within the autonomous vehicle (AV) industry.
• Exposure to ad-hoc data analysis tools for rapid modeling and prototyping.
