Research Analyst (SAS and R)

Location: 100% remote within the United States; candidates must reside within reasonable commuting distance of Atlanta, Chicago, or Washington, DC for occasional in-person meetings, onboarding, smart card issuance, background investigation processing, and periodic administrative or security-related activities.

Salary: $50,000–$70,000 yearly

What you will do

• Develop SAS programs to validate surveillance, clinical, and research study data.
• Check datasets for required and extraneous variables, identify discrepancies, and verify data quality.
• Create codebooks and data management plans.
• Perform duplicate procedures and compare results against applicable standards for datasets, indicators, metadata, programs, and outputs.
• Conduct geospatial and molecular HIV analysis using R and develop analytical code collaboratively.
• Support data dissemination, reporting, and collaboration with federal partners, funded jurisdictions, and community-based organizations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in public health, statistics, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience working with R or SAS, including strong SAS experience and familiarity with R coding.
• Experience working with multiple data sources to monitor and assess accuracy and completeness.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to obtain a NAC clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience with HIV surveillance, research data, behavioral or clinical surveillance, or public health surveillance systems.
• Experience with CDC, HHS, or other federal, state, or public health agencies.
• Master’s degree in public health, statistics, or a related field.
• Experience creating dashboards with Power BI and generating SAS-based reports for Excel, PDF, and HTML.
• Experience with large document-based datasets and SAS macros, PROC SQL, formats, informats, and procedures.
