Policy Communications Manager (AI)

Location: Hybrid (San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY). Must be based in or able to work from one of these offices at least 25% of the time.

What you will do

• Develop and execute communications strategies for AI security, governance, and responsible scaling.
• Communicate the role of the Long-Term Benefit Trust (LTBT) and the company's status as a public benefit corporation to explain oversight and accountability.
• Partner with security, product, legal, and governance teams on sensitive and fast-moving matters.
• Create proactive content regarding emerging regulatory frameworks, public reporting commitments, and transparency obligations.
• Manage reactive media requests and maintain relationships with journalists covering tech policy and security.
• Prepare executives for interviews and speaking engagements to position them as credible voices in AI safety.

Requirements

• Experience in policy communications, specifically managing complex security or governance topics.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to distill technical topics for broad audiences.
• Proven track record in issues management and reactive communications under tight deadlines.
• Strong executive management skills and ability to work across technical and non-technical teams.
• Existing media relationships and a high-agency, flexible working style.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Nice to have

• 8+ years of experience in policy communications, preferably at a high-growth tech company.
• Experience with corporate governance, regulatory affairs, or novel institutional arrangements.
