Salary: $135,000 – $225,000 per year

What you will do

• Act as the primary liaison to state legislators, legislative staff, and Governor's Offices to build long-term trusted relationships.
• Develop and execute a comprehensive government affairs strategy with California as a key priority.
• Partner with sales and business development teams to identify and shape policy environments that generate new business pipelines.
• Coordinate high-level executive engagements between company leadership and senior government officials.
• Monitor and report on state legislation and budget developments relevant to cybersecurity, IT procurement, and digital infrastructure.
• Maintain a robust stakeholder map of key decision-makers across California and other priority states.

Requirements

• 3-4 years of experience in state government relations, public policy, or legislative affairs.
• Demonstrated track record of building relationships with California state legislators or the Governor's Office.
• Deep understanding of state legislative and budget processes, regulatory environments, and political landscapes.
• Ability to connect public policy levers to commercial business development outcomes.
• Strong understanding of state and local government procurement processes and IT modernization needs.
• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent professional experience.

Nice to have

• Experience in the technology sector, specifically with SaaS, MDM, or cybersecurity.
• Prior experience working directly within a state legislator's or Governor's office.
• Existing relationships with state CIOs, CTOs, or public sector IT associations (e.g., NASCIO).
• Familiarity with federal grant programs such as BEAD, SLIGP, or CISA.
