What you will do

• Lead backend engineering teams day-to-day and shape the overall technical direction.
• Solve complex distributed systems problems hands-on alongside the team.
• Conduct architecture and design reviews, defending technical positions when necessary.
• Recruit, develop, and retain strong backend engineers, fostering a culture of ownership and craft.
• Collaborate with engineering leadership to translate the product roadmap into execution.
• Maintain a high bar for code quality and system reliability.

Requirements

• 6+ years of backend engineering experience.
• 2+ years of experience managing engineering teams in a fast-moving or production-critical environment.
• Deep expertise in building and scaling distributed systems.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and hands-on experience with AWS for deploying production systems.
• Proven track record of growing engineers through direct feedback and ownership.
• Must be located in or able to work from Vancouver, BC

Nice to have

• Previous experience with blockchain technologies, smart contracts, and decentralized finance (DeFi).
