Regulatory Counsel (APAC)

What you will do

• Lead responses to regulatory requests by assessing threats, organizing data, and drafting compelling responses.
• Cultivate positive working relationships and engage directly with regulatory authorities across APAC, including Australia and New Zealand.
• Prepare risk assessments and online safety reports for regional regulatory entities.
• Monitor new regulations and anticipate enforcement risks in collaboration with Public Policy and Product Legal teams.
• Collaborate with public policy and communications teams to present the company's narrative and safety strategies.
• Maintain canonical company templates for positions on privacy, security, and teen safety.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in regulatory legal focusing on Internet regulation (online safety, privacy, data protection).
• License to practice law in Australia.
• Must be based in Australia.
• Experience working within the communication, messaging, content, or gaming industries.
• Deep knowledge of Australia's regulatory landscape and familiarity with broader APAC environments.
• Proven experience preparing submissions and meeting with regulatory agencies.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with the Discord platform.
• In-house experience at a consumer-facing technology platform.
• Relevant litigation experience.
