Location: Must be based in or able to commute to Washington, D.C. (Hybrid: 3 days/week in office required).

Compensation: $20.00 per hour.

hirify.global is a mission-driven multimedia organization producing award-winning news, information, and music programming in partnership with independent public radio stations.

What you will do

• Pitch and produce news stories and feature interviews for Weekend Edition.
• Manage host interviews, including booking guests, writing copy, and editing audio.
• Report and produce digital stories for the Science Desk across health and general science sections.
• Assess scientific papers and research for newsworthiness.
• Collaborate with producers, editors, and correspondents on daily editorial tasks.
• Complete an originally reported capstone feature project.

Requirements

• Must be a current student or recent graduate (within 12 months).
• Journalism or news reporting/editing experience.
• Strong research skills and ability to identify unique news angles.
• Ability to manage tasks from concept to completion.
• Must be available for the full program duration: October 5th, 2026 - April 16th, 2027.
• Must be able to work on-site in Washington, D.C. at least 3 days per week.
