TL;DR

Researcher (News Production): Assist in the writing and production of original tape and live segments for TODAY with an accent on background research and visual storytelling. Focus on producing news content, conducting interviews, and fact-checking scripts for broadcast.

Location: Hybrid: Must be based in Universal City, California (minimum 4 days per week in office)

Salary: $26.00/hr - $31.00/hr

What you will do

• Produce original news content and background research for broadcast segments.
• Set up and conduct interviews and support field producing and shooting.
• Gather new and archival visual elements to help shape visual storytelling and the editing process.
• Source and obtain permissions for user-generated content.
• Log interviews and tapes, highlighting the best sound and visual elements for producers.
• Fact-check scripts and verify reporting information.

Requirements

• 1 year of experience in news production (internships included).
• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Must be willing to work in Los Angeles.
• Must be willing to work long hours, evenings, and weekends as needed.
• Comfortable going into the field to conduct interviews or assist with production set-up.

Nice to have

• Strong journalistic research, booking skills, and editorial judgment.
• Deep knowledge of national affairs, current events, and pop culture.
• Experience with breaking news.
• Understanding of the full process of putting together a complete segment.
